Hello! I am Alex Sullivan and I am currently a senior at FSU studying Human and Family Development. I am also getting a minor in education which is why I am taking EME2040. I am currently working as a preschool teacher, in the two year old room while I attend school. My goal when I graduate is to become a child life specialist which is a form of medical education, which is why I am working on a minor in education. When I am not working or at school, I usually am hanging out with my dog (Jolene), cooking, reading, hanging out with friends, or volunteering at City Church. I am looking forward to learning all about technology in education in this class, to hopefully aid in my future career.
One place I use technology in an education setting is at my church in the Kids department. We use the educational videos to teach bible verses and songs using the TV's in each classroom. In my preschool classroom we use speakers and our phones to play songs to keep the children focused, or to allow them to dance, to get their energy out. Other than those examples, I have used no other technology for education purposes but I am aware that there are many forms of technology that can be used in this way. Some I think can be helpful in education is computers. projectors, smartboards, and other technologies.
Some of the learning resources I use for my learning is online applications for my note taking and textbooks. All of my notes I take in class are on my IPad in an app called Good Notes, and my textbooks are online in the Kindle app. I also use the calendar on Canvas to support my learning needs by showing my due dates for assignments. The library is also a resource I use, I use it to study when I do not want to study in my apartment, because it is a quiet space meant to be used to complete schoolwork.

Hi Alex! I absolutely loved reading about your time spent as a preschool teacher and volunteer at church. Keep making a difference in people's lives! Also, I agree on completing school work in places other than my apartment because I try to separate the two in my mind, if that makes sense. All in all, looking forward to getting to know you more over this course!
ReplyDeleteHi Alex! I think that is really cool how technology is being incorporated in the education of the preschoolers you work with. I also work at a daycare however, we do not really use technology with them yet, so it interesting to see how that can be implemented in similar settings.
ReplyDeleteHi Alex! I think it is so great that you are working as a preschool teacher. I have always had a soft spot for kids and am looking to become a children's speech pathologist. It seems like you already have some experience with education technology through your job. I also love the calendar on canvas because it helps me keep my activities for the week all in one place.
